Police charge 4 with park vandalism

MARCH 29 -- Two adults and two juveniles have been charged with felonies for vandalizing Miami Meadows Park on State Route 131 in separate incidents.

The juveniles are accused of entering the park's restroom on January 14 and using a permanent marking pen to write profanity on walls and doors. They have been charged in juvenile court with vandalism, a fifth-degree felony.

The adults are charged with entering the restroom on January 22 and using skateboards to destroy equipment. Robert Miller, 18, and Justin Young, also 18, are both from Miami Township, and have been charged with vandalism.

All the subjects have admitted to the crimes, said Detective Williams Paul of the Miami Township Police Department.

Miami Township suffered more than $1,200 in damage and repair costs to fix the vandalism.

"Crimes against public property will be prosecuted to the full extent," said Miami Township Police Chief Steve Bailey. "Miami Township will not tolerate these senseless acts, and we have been very successful at catching the people who do this."
