Mock vehicle crash teaches students sober lesson

Miami Township Fire/EMS and Miami Township Police held a "mock crash" in front of students at the Live Oaks Career Center on Thursday, April 27 to demonstrate the dangers of impaired driving. Speakers included Miami Township Board of Trustee Chairman Ed Humphrey, Miami Township Police Chief Steve Bailey, Police Officer Terry Davis and two members of 'Caring Ladies Increasing Community Knowledge' (CLICK), as group of mothers whose children were killed in car crashes. Actors portrayed crash victims and were removed from the cars by the Miami Township Fire/EMS.

"The intent of the annual demonstration is to show teen drivers what can happen to them if they get behind the wheel of the car and are drinking or taking drugs, or they lose their concentration," said Chief Bailey. "We want to show them how terrible and horrendous these events are, and that they can happen to them, too."
