The Miami Township Police Department has promoted Detective John Swing to a Sergeant's position with its Road Patrol Division.
Sgt. Swing was sworn into his new position by Police Chief Steve Bailey at the Miami Township Board of Trustees meeting on Nov. 14. Sgt. Swing's son held the Holy Bible for him during the swearing in.
Sgt. Swing has been employed by the Miami Township Police Department since 1997. Prior to that he was employed by the K-Mart Corporation as a supervisor of Loss Prevention operations. He was previously assigned as an Investigator for Police District 2 in Miami Township. He holds an Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.
"Sgt. Swing was one of many highly-qualified candidates from our police department who sought this promotion, and we think he will do an outstanding job for us," Chief Bailey said. "We have many talented police officers from our ranks, and picking just one to be promoted was very difficult, but Sgt. Swing's promotion will only make our department even better."
