
Emergency Medical Services in Miami Township is corner stoned by professional paramedics and EMT's. Part time EMT's and paramedics supplement the fulltime staff. Thirteen fulltime employees are assigned to each of three 24 on/48 off crews, one of which is the shift captain. The central station houses three administrative officers on the weekdays. The north and south stations each have a weekday captain to supplement staffing.
Miami Township maintains two paramedics per ambulance and generally
have each engine company staffed with two paramedics. Engine companies
respond with ambulances to EMS calls when the dispatch nature
indicates a possible critical patient and when the primary district
ambulance it out of station. All engines carry a full compliment of
paramedic equipment.
Paramedics pride themselves on aggressive training and the state of the art protocol we operate under. Our protocol is in line with the American Heart Association Emergency Cardiovascular Care guidelines released in mid 2000.
