Miami Township Fire & EMS crews are trained to recognize and assist senior citizens that may be at risk of health problems, due to the resident’s physical, emotional or environmental conditions. The responders then provide a pathway to area organizations for appropriate assistance. A ‘Gate Keeper’ is a person with our department that coordinates the program and makes all referral calls to area organizations. Follow-up is also provided to the employees who recognize any problems with our area senior citizens. The Gate Keeper Program was established in 1993.
