On Tuesday, January 02,1996, the Miami Township Board of Trustees met in regular session at 8:00 PM at the Miami Township Civic Center. Members in attendance included Joe Uecker, Chairperson, Jean Schmidt, Co-Chairperson and Ed Humphrey, member.
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Uecker who opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Clerk, Eric Ferry called the roll. Ed Humphrey made a motion to accept as written, minutes of the meetings December 19,1995 and December 28,1995. Jean Schmidt seconded the motion. Upon roll call, all voted "AYE".
Fire and EMS Chief, James Whitworth presented a Certificate of Recognition to Stacey Swift for life saving actions. A Certificate of Recognition was also awarded to the Milford Main Middle School.
Clerk, Eric Ferry read a section from the Clermont County Commissioners Journal number 282 regarding the accepting the following roads and lengths into the Miami Township public road system; T-2454 Belle Meade Farm Drive - 0.199 miles, T-2496 Almahurst Lane - 0.031 miles, T-2366 Belmont Road - 0.126 miles, T-2497 Cheltenham Drive - 0.168 miles and T-2498 Bedfordshire Drive - 0.169 miles.
Mr. Ferry read a letter from the Clermont County Engineer, Carl G. Hartman regarding the latest bridge inspection.
Mr. Ferry read a letter from Doug Gausmann, Chairman, Loveland Recreation Board regarding the 1996 summer program for children.
Mr. Ferry read a letter from Mr. Tim Rodenberg commending the performance of Police Chief, Steve Bailey.
Mr. Ferry read a Thank-You letter to Mr. Kim Sharp, President Milford Dodge,Inc. from Chief Whitworth regarding the donation of $5,000. to help fund a Fire Safety House.
Chairperson Uecker reminded those in attendance of the Christmas Tree Recycling program. Service Director, Walter Fischer reported the snow has slowed the progress of chipping.
Chairperson Uecker reminded those in attendance of the January 09,1996 Trustees meeting.
Jean Schmidt made a motion to correct the December 05,1995 meeting minutes to say the January 02,1996 will be the first meeting of 1996 and that a meeting will be held on January 09 and January 16,1996. Ed Humphrey seconded the motion. Upon roll call, all voted "AYE".
Jean Schmidt made a motion to correct the December 19,1995 meeting minutes to reflect under the reorganization, the first regularly scheduled meeting of 1996 will be January 02. Ed Humphrey seconded the motion. Upon roll call, all voted "AYE".
Mr. Fischer presented the Board with an Alcohol/Drug Abuse Policy for the Service Department. Mr. Humphrey made a motion to adopt the Alcohol/Drug Abuse Policy for the Service Department as presented. Jean Schmidt seconded the motion. Upon roll call, all voted "AYE".
There were no public comments.
PUBLIC HEARING - Regulations and Requirements of Registration of Massage Establishments. and the Regulations and Requirements of Registration of Adult Cabarets. Miami Township Attorney, John Korfagen reviewed the proposed regulations and requirements as regulated by law and specific discretionary recommendations. Police Chief Bailey offered suggested changes to wording of several requirements.
Marvin Hudson, 5969 Pinto Place spoke of the decline of society's moral ethics. He felt the acceptance of Adult Cabarets and Massage Establishments was a sign of declining community values.
Chairperson Uecker read a letter from Patrick A. Pettyjohn of 924 Duntreath Lane
requesting the Trustees put every roadblock possible in the way of adult entertainment in Miami Township.
With no further business to come before the Board, Chairperson Uecker adjourned the meeting at 10:00 PM.
