LOVERBOY, KANSAS and JOSH GRACIN headline MidSummer music

Classic rockers Loverboy, Kansas and rising country superstar Josh Gracin headline the entertainment at the 2008 MidSummer at the Meadows at Miami Meadows Park, which will expand to a three-day event, July 11-13. Loverboy hits include 'Turn Me Loose', 'The Kid Is Hot Tonite', 'Working for the Weekend', 'When It's Over', 'Hot Girls In Love', 'Queen of the Broken Hearts', 'Lovin' Every Minute Of It', 'This Could Be The Night', 'Notorious', 'Heaven in Your Eyes' from the Top Gun soundtrack and 'Almost Paradise' from the Footloose soundtrack. Kansas soared to stardom with hit singles such as 'Carry On Wayward Son,' 'Dust in the Wind' and 'Play the Game Tonight.' Gracin, a former member of the U.S. Marine Corps who first gained public attention as the fourth-place finalist on the second season of American Idol, has charted nine songs on the Billboard country charts, including a number one single in 2005's 'Nothin' to Lose.' LOVERBOY

Kicking off the classic rock music on Friday, July 11 will be Loverboy, who hit the charts in 1980 with their self-titled debut album and quickly became one of America and MTV's most popular rock bands. Throughout the 1980s, Loverboy earned four multi-platinum albums and numerous international gold albums, and their tours sold out arenas and stadiums nationwide.. Hits include 'Turn Me Loose', 'The Kid Is Hot Tonite', 'Working for the Weekend', 'When It's Over', 'Hot Girls In Love', 'Queen of the Broken Hearts', 'Lovin' Every Minute Of It', 'This Could Be The Night', 'Notorious', 'Heaven in Your Eyes' from the Top Gun soundtrack and 'Almost Paradise' from the Footloose soundtrack. Loverboy, driven by the powerful vocals of Mike Reno, the relentless rock groove of lead guitarist Paul Dean, bassist Scott Smith, keyboardist Doug Johnson and drummer Matt Frenette, built its reputation on-stage, bringing the energy from their radio hits to coliseum rousing excitement. 

 

KANSAS

On Saturday, July 12, taking the MidSummer stage will be Kansas, an American progressive rock band who became a popular arena rock group in the 1970s, with hit singles such as 'Carry On Wayward Son,' 'Dust in the Wind' and 'Play the Game Tonight.' Kansas has remained a classic rock radio staple and a popular touring act in North America and Europe. Kansas was from the beginning just an ordinary rock band, but was quickly compared to other progressive bands in the 1970's like Genesis, Yes and King Crimson. With their unique sound and style combining rock music with complex rhythms, but mainly the violin, Kansas is loved all over the world. 

 

JOSH GRACIN

The headliner for Sunday, July 13, will be rising country superstar Josh Gracin, a former member of the U.S. Marine Corps who first gained public attention as the fourth-place finalist on the second season of American Idol. After his elimination from the show, Gracin completed his service in the Marine Corps and signed a record deal with Lyric Street Records. His self-titled debut album was released in 2004; it produced three Top 5 singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts, and was certified gold. To date, Gracin has charted nine songs on the Billboard country charts, including a number one single in 2005's 'Nothin' to Lose.'
